21:1 After this, Jesus shewed himself to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he shewed himself after this manner.

21:1 Danach offenbarte Jesus sich seinen Jüngern noch einmal am See von Tiberias, und zwar offenbarte er sich auf folgende Weise:

21:2 There were together: Simon Peter and Thomas, who is called Didymus, and Nathanael, who was of Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee and two others of his disciples.

21:2 Es waren beisammen Simon Petrus und Thomas, der den Namen ›Zwilling‹ führt, Nathanael aus Kana in Galiläa, die (beiden) Söhne des Zebedäus und noch zwei andere aus der Zahl seiner Jünger.

21:3 Simon Peter saith to them: I go a fishing. They say to him: We also come with thee. And they went forth and entered into the ship: and that night they caught nothing.

21:3 Da sagte Simon Petrus zu ihnen: »Ich gehe hin und fische!« Sie erwiderten ihm: »Dann gehen auch wir mit dir!« So gingen sie denn hinaus und stiegen in das Boot, fingen aber in jener Nacht nichts.

21:4 But when the morning was come, Jesus stood on the shore: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

21:4 Als es bereits gegen Morgen war, stand Jesus am Ufer; die Jünger wußten jedoch nicht, daß es Jesus war.

21:5 Jesus therefore said to them: Children, have you any meat? They answered him: No.

21:5 Da rief Jesus ihnen zu: »Kinder, habt ihr nicht etwas (Fisch) als Zukost?« Sie antworteten ihm: »Nein.«

21:6 He saith to them: Cast the net on the right side of the ship; and you shall find. They cast therefore: and now they were not able to draw it, for the multitude of fishes.

21:6 Nun sagte er zu ihnen: »Werft das Netz nach der rechten Seite des Bootes aus, so werdet ihr einen Fang tun!« Da warfen sie es aus und konnten es vor der Menge der Fische nicht mehr (aus dem Wasser) herausziehen.

21:7 That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved said to Peter: It is the Lord. Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, girt his coat about him (for he was naked) and cast himself into the sea.

21:7 Da sagte jener Jünger, den Jesus (besonders) lieb hatte, zu Petrus: »Es ist der Herr!« Als nun Simon Petrus hörte, daß es der Herr sei, gürtete er sich sein Obergewand um – er hatte nämlich nur ein Unterkleid angehabt – und sprang in den See;

21:8 But the other disciples came in the ship (for they were not far from the land, but as it were two hundred cubits) dragging the net with fishes.

21:8 die anderen Jünger aber kamen mit dem Boote hinter ihm her – sie waren nämlich nicht weit vom Lande, sondern nur in einer Entfernung von etwa zweihundert Ellen – und zogen das Netz mit den Fischen hinter sich her.

21:9 As soon then as they came to land they saw hot coals lying, and a fish laid thereon, and bread.

21:9 Als sie dann ans Land ausgestiegen waren, sahen sie ein Kohlenfeuer (am Boden) hergerichtet und Fische darauf gelegt und Brot (daneben).

21:10 Jesus saith to them: Bring hither of the fishes which you have now caught.

21:10 Jesus sagte zu ihnen: »Bringt noch einige von den Fischen her, die ihr soeben gefangen habt!«

21:11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, one hundred and fifty-three. And although there were so many, the net was not broken.

21:11 Da stieg Simon Petrus (in das Boot) hinein und zog das Netz ans Land, das mit hundertunddreiundfünfzig großen Fischen gefüllt war und trotz dieser großen Zahl nicht zerriß.

21:12 Jesus saith to them: Come and dine. And none of them who were at meat, durst ask him: Who art thou? Knowing that it was the Lord.

21:12 Nun sagte Jesus zu ihnen: »Kommt her und haltet das Frühmahl!« Keiner aber von den Jüngern wagte die Frage an ihn zu richten: »Wer bist du?« Sie wußten ja, daß es der Herr war.

21:13 And Jesus cometh and taketh bread and giveth them: and fish in like manner.

21:13 Jesus trat nun hin, nahm das Brot und gab es ihnen, ebenso auch die Fische.

21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to his disciples, after he was risen from the dead.

21:14 Dies war nun schon das dritte Mal, daß Jesus sich nach seiner Auferstehung von den Toten seinen Jüngern offenbarte.

21:15 When therefore they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.

21:15 Als sie nun das Frühmahl gehalten hatten, sagte Jesus zu Simon Petrus: »Simon, Sohn des Johannes, liebst du mich mehr als diese?« Er antwortete ihm: »Ja, Herr, du weißt, daß ich dich lieb habe.« Da sagte er zu ihm: »Weide meine Lämmer!«

21:16 He saith to him again: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith to him: yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.

21:16 Darauf fragte ihn Jesus zum zweitenmal: »Simon, Sohn des Johannes, liebst du mich?« Er antwortete ihm: »Ja, Herr, du weißt, daß ich dich lieb habe.« Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: »Hüte meine Schafe!«

21:17 He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he had said to him the third time: Lovest thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him: Feed my sheep.

21:17 Zum drittenmal fragte er ihn: »Simon, Sohn des Johannes, hast du mich lieb?« Da wurde Petrus betrübt, weil er ihn zum drittenmal fragte: »Hast du mich lieb?«, und er antwortete ihm: »Herr, du weißt alles; du weißt auch, daß ich dich lieb habe.« Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: »Weide meine Schafe!

21:18 Amen, amen, I say to thee, When thou wast younger, thou didst gird thyself and didst walk where thou wouldst. But when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee and lead thee whither thou wouldst not.

21:18 Wahrlich, wahrlich ich sage dir: Als du noch jünger warst, hast du dir dein Gewand selbst gegürtet und bist umhergegangen, wohin du wolltest; wenn du aber alt geworden bist, wirst du deine Arme ausstrecken, und ein anderer wird dich gürten und dich an eine Stätte führen, wohin du nicht willst.«

21:19 And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.

21:19 Dies sagte er aber, um anzudeuten, durch was für eine Todesart Petrus Gott verherrlichen würde. Nach diesen Worten sagte er zu ihm: »Folge mir nach!«

21:20 Peter turning about, saw that disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper and said: Lord, who is he that shall betray thee?

21:20 Als Petrus sich dann umwandte, sah er den Jünger, den Jesus (besonders) liebhatte, hinter ihnen herkommen, denselben, der sich auch beim Abendmahl an seine Brust gelehnt und gefragt hatte: »Herr, wer ist’s, der dich verrät?«

21:21 Him therefore when Peter had seen, he saith to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man do?

21:21 Als nun Petrus diesen sah, fragte er Jesus: »Herr, was wird aber mit diesem werden?«

21:22 Jesus saith to him: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? Follow thou me.

21:22 Jesus antwortete ihm: »Wenn es mein Wille ist, daß er bis zu meinem Kommen (am Leben) bleibt, was geht das dich an? Folge du mir nach!«

21:23 This saying therefore went abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And Jesus did not say to him: He should not die; but: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee?

21:23 So verbreitete sich denn diese Rede unter den Brüdern: »Jener Jünger stirbt nicht.« Aber Jesus hatte zu ihm nicht gesagt: »Er stirbt nicht«, sondern: »Wenn es mein Wille ist, daß er bis zu meinem Kommen (am Leben) bleibt, was geht das dich an?«

21:24 This is that disciple who giveth testimony of these things and hath written these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

21:24 Dies ist der Jünger, der von diesen Dingen Zeugnis ablegt und auch diese Schrift verfaßt hat, und wir wissen, daß sein Zeugnis wahr ist.

21:25 But there are also many other things which Jesus did which, if they were written every one, the world itself. I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written.

21:25 Es gibt aber noch vieles andere, was Jesus getan hat; wollte man das alles im einzelnen aufschreiben, so würde nach meiner Überzeugung die Welt die Bücher nicht fassen, die dann zu schreiben wären.
