20:1 And on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalen cometh early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre: and she saw the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

20:1 Am ersten Tage nach dem Sabbat aber ging Maria Magdalena frühmorgens, als es noch dunkel war, zum Grabe hin und sah, daß der Stein vom Grabe weggenommen war.

20:2 She ran therefore and cometh to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and saith to them: They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre: and we know not where they have laid him.

20:2 Da eilte sie hin und kam zu Simon Petrus und zu dem anderen Jünger, den Jesus (besonders) lieb gehabt hatte, und sagte zu ihnen: »Man hat den Herrn aus dem Grabe weggenommen, und wir wissen nicht, wohin man ihn gelegt hat!«

20:3 Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple: and they came to the sepulchre.

20:3 Da gingen Petrus und der andere Jünger hinaus und machten sich auf den Weg zum Grabe.

20:4 And they both ran together: and that other disciple did outrun Peter and came first to the sepulchre.

20:4 Die beiden liefen miteinander, doch der andere Jünger lief voraus, schneller als Petrus, und kam zuerst an das Grab.

20:5 And when he stooped down, he saw the linen cloths lying: but yet he went not in.

20:5 Als er sich nun hineinbeugte, sah er die leinenen Binden daliegen, ging jedoch nicht hinein.

20:6 Then cometh Simon Peter, following him, and went into the sepulchre: and saw the linen cloths lying,

20:6 Nun kam auch Simon Petrus hinter ihm her und trat in das Grab hinein; er sah dort die leinenen Binden liegen,

20:7 And the napkin that had been about his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but apart, wrapped up into one place.

20:7 das Schweißtuch aber, das auf seinem Kopf gelegen hatte, lag nicht bei den (anderen) Leintüchern, sondern für sich zusammengefaltet an einer besonderen Stelle.

20:8 Then that other disciple also went in, who came first to the sepulchre: and he saw and believed.

20:8 Jetzt trat auch der andere Jünger hinein, der zuerst am Grabe angekommen war, und sah es auch und kam zum Glauben;

20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

20:9 denn sie hatten die Schrift noch nicht verstanden, daß er von den Toten auferstehen müsse.

20:10 The disciples therefore departed again to their home.

20:10 So gingen denn die (beiden) Jünger wieder heim.

20:11 But Mary stood at the sepulchre without, weeping. Now as she was weeping, she stooped down and looked into the sepulchre,

20:11 Maria aber war draußen am Grabe stehengeblieben und weinte. Mit Tränen in den Augen beugte sie sich vor in das Grab hinein;

20:12 And she saw two angels in white, sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been laid.

20:12 da sah sie dort zwei Engel in weißen Gewändern dasitzen, den einen am Kopfende, den andern am Fußende der Stelle, wo der Leichnam Jesu gelegen hatte.

20:13 They say to her: Woman, why weepest thou? She saith to them: Because they have taken away my Lord: and I know not where they have laid him.

20:13 Diese sagten zu ihr: »Frau, warum weinst du?« Sie antwortete ihnen: »Man hat meinen Herrn weggenommen, und ich weiß nicht, wohin man ihn gelegt hat.«

20:14 When she had thus said, she turned herself back and saw Jesus standing: and she knew not that it was Jesus.

20:14 Nach diesen Worten wandte sie sich um und sah Jesus dastehen, wußte aber nicht, daß es Jesus war.

20:15 Jesus saith to her: Woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou? She, thinking that it was the gardener, saith to him: Sir, if thou hast taken him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him: and I will take him away.

20:15 Da sagte Jesus zu ihr: »Frau, warum weinst du? Wen suchst du?« Sie hielt ihn für den Hüter des Gartens und sagte zu ihm: »Herr, wenn du ihn weggetragen hast, so sage mir doch, wohin du ihn gebracht hast; dann will ich ihn wieder holen.«

20:16 Jesus saith to her: Mary. She turning, saith to him: Rabboni (which is to say, Master).

20:16 Jesus sagte zu ihr: »Maria!« Da wandte sie sich um und sagte auf hebräisch zu ihm: »Rabbuni!«, das heißt »Meister«.

20:17 Jesus saith to her: Do not touch me: for I am not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and say to them: I ascend to my Father and to your Father, to my God and to your God.

20:17 Jesus sagte zu ihr: »Rühre mich nicht an, denn ich bin noch nicht zum Vater aufgefahren! Gehe aber zu meinen Brüdern und sage ihnen: ›Ich fahre auf zu meinem Vater und eurem Vater, zu meinem Gott und eurem Gott.‹«

20:18 Mary Magdalen cometh and telleth the disciples: I have seen the Lord; and these things he said to me.

20:18 Da ging Maria Magdalena hin und verkündigte den Jüngern, sie habe den Herrn gesehen, und er habe dies zu ihr gesagt.

20:19 Now when it was late the same day, the first of the week, and the doors were shut, where the disciples were gathered together, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them: Peace be to you.

20:19 Als es nun an jenem Tage, dem ersten Wochentage, Abend geworden war und die Türen an dem Ort, wo die Jünger sich befanden, aus Furcht vor den Juden verschlossen waren, kam Jesus, trat mitten unter sie und sagte zu ihnen: »Friede sei mit euch!«

20:20 And when he had said this, he shewed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord.

20:20 Nach diesen Worten zeigte er ihnen seine Hände und seine Seite; da freuten sich die Jünger, weil sie den Herrn sahen.

20:21 He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you.

20:21 Dann sagte er nochmals zu ihnen: »Friede sei mit euch! Wie mich der Vater gesandt hat, so sende auch ich euch.«

20:22 When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

20:22 Nach diesen Worten hauchte er sie an und sagte zu ihnen: »Empfanget heiligen Geist!

20:23 Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them: and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.

20:23 Wem immer ihr die Sünden vergebt, dem sind sie vergeben, und wem ihr sie behaltet, dem sind sie behalten.«

20:24 Now Thomas, one of the twelve, who is called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

20:24 Thomas aber, einer von den Zwölfen, der auch den Namen ›Zwilling‹ führt, war nicht bei ihnen gewesen, als Jesus gekommen war.

20:25 The other disciples therefore said to him: We have seen the Lord. But he said to them: Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the place of the nails and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.

20:25 Die anderen Jünger teilten ihm nun mit: »Wir haben den Herrn gesehen!« Er aber erklärte ihnen: »Wenn ich nicht das Nägelmal in seinen Händen sehe und meinen Finger in das Nägelmal und meine Hand in seine Seite lege, werde ich es nimmermehr glauben!«

20:26 And after eight days, again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said: Peace be to you.

20:26 Acht Tage später befanden sich seine Jünger wieder im Hause, und (diesmal) war Thomas bei ihnen. Da kam Jesus bei verschlossenen Türen, trat mitten unter sie und sagte: »Friede sei mit euch!«

20:27 Then he said to Thomas: Put in thy finger hither and see my hands. And bring hither the hand and put it into my side. And be not faithless, but believing.

20:27 Darauf sagte er zu Thomas: »Reiche deinen Finger her und sieh dir meine Hände an; dann reiche deine Hand her und lege sie mir in die Seite und sei nicht (länger) ungläubig, sondern werde gläubig!«

20:28 Thomas answered and said to him: My Lord and my God.

20:28 Da antwortete ihm Thomas: »Mein Herr und mein Gott!«

20:29 Jesus saith to him: Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen and have believed.

20:29 Jesus erwiderte ihm: »Weil du mich gesehen hast, bist du gläubig geworden. Selig sind die, welche nicht gesehen haben und doch zum Glauben gekommen sind!«

20:30 Many other signs also did Jesus in the sight of his disciples, which are not written in this book.

20:30 Noch viele andere Wunderzeichen hat Jesus vor den Augen seiner Jünger getan, die in diesem Buche nicht aufgezeichnet stehen;

20:31 But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name.

20:31 diese aber sind niedergeschrieben worden, damit ihr glaubt, daß Jesus der Gesalbte, der Sohn Gottes ist, und damit ihr durch den Glauben Leben in seinem Namen habt.
