2:1 And I lifted up my eyes, and saw: and behold four horns.

2:1 Als ich dann aufblickte und hinschaute, sah ich vier Hörner.

2:2 And I said to the angel that spoke in me: What are these? And he said to me: These are the horns that have scattered Juda, and Israel, and Jerusalem.

2:2 Als ich nun den Engel, der mit mir redete, fragte: »Was haben diese zu bedeuten?«, antwortete er mir: »Das sind die Hörner, welche Juda, Israel und Jerusalem zerstreut haben.«

2:3 And the Lord shewed me four smiths.

2:3 Hierauf ließ der HERR mich vier Schmiede schauen,

2:4 And I said: What come these to do? and he spoke, saying: These are the horns which have scattered Juda every man apart, and none of them lifted up his head: and these are come to fray them, to cast down the horns of the nations, that have lifted up the horn upon the land of Juda to scatter it.

2:4 und als ich fragte: »Was wollen diese hier tun?«, gab er mir zur Antwort: »Jenes sind die Hörner, welche Juda dermaßen zerstreut haben, daß es sein Haupt nicht mehr erheben konnte; nun aber sind diese gekommen, um sie in Schrecken zu setzen und die Hörner der Völker abzuschlagen, die ihr Horn gegen das Land Juda erhoben haben, um es zu zerstreuen.«

2:5 And I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold a man, with a measuring line in his hand.

2:5 Als ich dann (abermals) aufblickte und hinschaute, sah ich einen Mann, der eine Meßschnur in der Hand hielt.

2:6 And I said: Whither goest thou? and he said to me: To measure Jerusalem, and to see how great is the breadth thereof, and how great the length thereof.

2:6 Als ich ihn nun fragte: »Wohin gehst du?«, antwortete er mir: »Ich soll Jerusalem ausmessen, um festzustellen, wie groß seine Breite und wie groß seine Länge ist.«

2:7 And behold the angel that spoke in me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him.

2:7 Da stand auf einmal der Engel da, der mit mir redete; und ein anderer Engel trat hervor, ihm entgegen,

2:8 And he said to him: Run, speak to this young man, saying: Jerusalem shall be inhabited without walls, by reason of the multitude of men, and of the beasts in the midst thereof.

2:8 und er sagte zu diesem: »Laufe hin und sage dem jungen Manne dort folgendes: ›Eine offene Stadt soll Jerusalem bilden wegen der Menge der Menschen und des Viehs in seinem Innern;

2:9 And I will be to it, saith the Lord, a wall of fire round about: and I will be in glory in the midst thereof.

2:9 ich selbst aber‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN – ›will ihm ringsum eine feurige Mauer sein und ihm zur Verherrlichung in seiner Mitte gereichen.‹«

2:10 O, O flee ye out of the land of the north, saith the Lord, for I have scattered you into the four winds of heaven, saith the Lord.

2:10 »Auf, auf! Fliehet aus dem Lande des Nordens!« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –; »denn nach allen vier Windrichtungen will ich euch zersprengen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.

2:11 O Sion, flee, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon:

2:11 »Auf! Nach Zion rettet euch, die ihr noch bei der Tochter Babel wohnt!«

2:12 For thus saith the Lord of hosts: After the glory he hath sent me to the nations that have robbed you: for he that toucheth you, toucheth the apple of my eye:

2:12 Denn so hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: »Nach Herrlichem hat er mich gesandt zu den Heidenvölkern, die euch geplündert haben; denn wer euch antastet, tastet seinen Augapfel an.

2:13 For behold, I lift up my hand upon them, and they shall be a prey to those that served them: and you shall know that the Lord of hosts sent me.

2:13 Denn wisset wohl: Ich werde meine Hand gegen sie schwingen, daß sie denen zur Beute werden sollen, die jetzt ihre Knechte sind«; dann werdet ihr auch erkennen, daß der HERR der Heerscharen es ist, der mich gesandt hat. –

2:14 Sing praise, and rejoice, O daughter of Sion: for behold I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: saith the Lord.

2:14 »Juble und freue dich, Tochter Zion! Denn wisse wohl: Ich komme und nehme Wohnung in deiner Mitte« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.

2:15 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall be my people, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me to thee.

2:15 »Da werden sich dann an jenem Tage viele Völker an den HERRN anschließen und mir als Volk angehören; und ich werde in deiner Mitte Wohnung nehmen«; dann wirst du auch erkennen, daß der HERR der Heerscharen es ist, der mich zu dir gesandt hat.

2:16 And the Lord shall possess Juda his portion in the sanctified land: and he shall yet choose Jerusalem.

2:16 Der HERR aber wird Juda als sein Erbteil auf dem heiligen Boden in Besitz nehmen und Jerusalem wiederum erwählen. –

2:17 Let all flesh be silent at the presence of the Lord: for he is risen up out of his holy habitation.

2:17 Stille sei alles Fleisch vor dem HERRN! Denn er hat sich (bereits) aufgemacht aus seiner heiligen (himmlischen) Wohnstätte.
