1. La Anunciación
We contemplate the moment when the Archangel Gabriel appears to Mary and greets her as “full of grace.” The Eternal Word awaits her consent; the destiny of mankind rests on the reply of a humble maiden of Nazareth. She replies, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to thy word.” In that instant, the Word becomes flesh.
This mystery teaches humility. God exalts the lowly and resists the proud. Mary’s greatness lies in submission. She teaches the soul to bow before God’s will, to seek no glory but His. The humble heart, like hers, becomes the dwelling of the Word.
